Friday Focus: Be Yourself

Being yourself is freeing!

What makes you feel the most like you? What makes you laugh so hard that you cry? What are you so passionate about that you could spend hours on it and feel like the time flew by too quickly? Who do you love to spend time with? What dreams do you look forward to achieving? What parts of yourself do you love? What achievements are you most proud of?

 

There are so many things that make up who you are. If you find activities, hobbies, people, passions, a career, etc. that make you feel alive and are good for you and the world, you are finding parts of you that you should stick by. Choosing to love yourself is an ongoing process and it goes hand in hand with being yourself. Free yourself from the stress, pressures, and fears of the outside world. You don't have to impress anyone. Just be who you are and the people that stick with you are the right people for you. Relying on external approval and validation creates a cage around your life. You can't control others' opinions of you and therefore if you see yourself only through others' eyes, your freedom and love of yourself will be controlled by something you have no control over. Choose to be yourself today and every day!

 

Today's Challenge:

Think about the parts of yourself that you love. Then, engage in those activities, hobbies, etc. For example, if you love playing a sport, play more of that sport or if you love spending time with a few of your close friends, arrange a day to spend time with them. This seems so simple, but it isn't easy.

 

Ongoing Challenge:

Try and tackle today's challenge every day. You are enough and it is only fair to you to let your true self shine each day. Be yourself! Regret will hurt more than this challenge...
