Constantly Learn

Being able to learn and adapt is so important.

The only way to get on the path to your best self is by learning, adjusting, and adapting. The idea is you want to be constantly "striving" instead of "arriving" because you never will arrive. Brad Stulberg uses both those words to describe the concept of the human condition. We never will "arrive" even though we think we will. That is why all we have to do is "strive." Everything you learn when striving and on your journey is so valuable. If you constantly strive to learn and be the best you can be, you will be satisfied and look back joyfully on your life when you are on your death bed. To live your best life, you need to constantly learn. We are not born our best selves, but we can work towards it constantly through hard work, sacrifice, kindness, humility, discipline, courage, by making a positive change in the world whether big or small, and by loving God, ourselves, and others. I leave it up to you and your research to understand the concept of your best self and if you see your best self as something you can achieve in your life. However, I think by wholeheartedly striving to be your best self after any and all setbacks (until you die), you will have achieved it.

I learned in the book "greatness" by David L. Cook that our brains are designed to adapt. They aren't designed for perfection. Let's tap into our brain's design and constantly learn, adapt, and thrive in our life and in our world.

Another important part about learning is the idea of being coachable. For example, if you are learning soccer, you can't disregard your coach. You need to be coachable so that you can get better. Humility and a growth mindset both play a big part in this.

Overall, you need to research, learn from others, be coached by others, experience pain, setbacks, and hardships, go through trial and error, etc. to learn. When you use different methods of learning, you need to be humble, be respectful, listen, and apply what you learn. At the end of the day, it is your choice to listen to and apply all that you have learned. You could have the best coach or mentor in the world, but without your cooperation, you will get nowhere. You will be no better than who you were yesterday.
