Negative emotions and thoughts are inevitable. Refocus on the positive!
Having negative emotions and thoughts is inevitable. Make sure to realize and understand this. Don't beat yourself up when you experience negativity. Beating yourself up only brings about more negativity and keeps you away from a solution. We are wired to focus on the negative more than the positive. With this in mind, we should try our best to refocus ourselves and our perspective in life and in different situations on the positive. Novak Djokovic, a very successful tennis player, explained in an interview, the importance of experiencing your negative emotions and then "bouncing back" after them. The idea of being able to "reset" is so important in sports and in life. You need to feel and experience your negative emotions and thoughts. Try to understand them, but if you can't, don't worry about it. You have to learn to be able to live with and be joyful even when faced with uncertainty. (Note: That is a very significant concept when working through Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, also known as OCD). After this, refocus on something positive. Gratitude, acts of kindness you can perform, accepting others' acts of kindness, having fun, building community, and pursuing your hobbies, goals, and dreams can help too. There is always a positive spin to a negative situation. Find it and then refocus it!
