Friday Focus: Quiet Amongst the Chaos

Published on 1 November 2024 at 15:34

Friday Focus! Each Friday, I will be challenging you to focus on something. This Friday's Focus is finding quiet amongst the chaos.

We live in a world where constant busyness, distraction, and noise is a norm. Do you think this constant stimulation is healthy for you?

This constant "on the go" attitude can be a stressor in your life. Spending time in a quiet place will allow you to think in purposeful, deep, and calming ways which can promote better ideas, better decisions, and a more calm life. For example,  Daniel G. Amen, MD, in his book "Conquer Worry and Anxiety," suggests meditation and prayer as good coping methods for anxiety. What do both meditation and prayer have in common? They both involve quieting yourself and being in a quiet place. If we can reserve a point or multiple points in our day where we take time to be quiet and be in a quiet place, we can make our life better and more peaceful.

Challenge:

My challenge for you today is to spend at least three minutes away from the chaos of the world and spend time with yourself: meditate, pray, journal, etc. Whatever you do in this time must be something calming and something that brings you peace.

Bonus: Spend these three minutes of quiet in nature!

Ongoing Challenge:

My ongoing challenge for you today is to be in a quiet place and quiet yourself a few minutes every morning, afternoon, and night (and more times if you want to push yourself).

Find your inner calm. Find peace and quiet amongst the chaos of life. You can do it!
